Vacation in North West Iceland


Heydalur is a valley covered with birch bushes in Mjoifjordur in Isafjardardjup in North West Iceland. The distances to the next town and villages are 130 km to Isafjordur, 90 km to Holmavik and 150 km to Budardalur.


Accomodation in North West Iceland

There are nine double rooms with a private bathroom. The rooms have been installed in an old barn and cowshed. The entrance to each room is from the outside.Each room is about 20m2. In each room you will find two comfortable beds, beside table, cupboard and two chairs.


Recreation in North West Iceland

In the restaurant is facility to play ping pong and so forth.

In the spring you will see many birds. The arctic tern is loud on its nesting ground at the beach.The eagle, the king of birds, is sometimes flying above. Harlequin ducks swim in the river, loons and common loons are on the lakes.You will also find other species of birds for example golden plovers, ptarmigans, thrushes, snow buntings, white wagtails, wrens and wheatear.

In the lakes you will find trouts.

In good weather it would be a good opportunity to go hiking in the neighbourhood. A horseback riding tour is a nice way to enjoy the silence and the overgrown valley. It is an unique experience to row a kayak on the Mjoifjordur,fjord with the view of Drangajokull glacier amongst the seals and seabirds. After a busy day it is relaxing to take a bath in a natural hot spring.

The farm is participant in forestry and there have already been planted around eight thousand plants.

Palmalundur just near the farm is a memorial grove.
